PIP for ADHD

How much is PIP for ADHD in 2026/27?

In 2026/27, PIP pays £76.70 (standard) or £114.60 (enhanced) a week for daily living, and £30.30 (standard) or £80.00 (enhanced) a week for mobility. There is no ADHD-specific rate: the amount depends only on the components you are awarded. The lowest possible award is £30.30 a week and the highest is £194.60, about £778.40 per 4-weekly payment. PIP is tax free, not means tested, and paid on top of wages or most other benefits.

What decides which rates you get

Each component is scored separately: 8 points for the standard rate, 12 for enhanced. In ADHD claims the daily living component is usually the realistic target, built from several prompting-based descriptors; mobility points, where they apply, usually come from the planning and following journeys activity rather than physical walking. Work through the points self-checker to see where you might land, and the descriptors guide for what the wording really means.

What PIP does not touch

Frequently asked questions

How much is PIP per month for ADHD?

PIP is usually paid every 4 weeks rather than calendar monthly. In 2026/27 a 4-weekly payment ranges from £121.20 (one standard mobility component) to £778.40 (both components enhanced). The amount depends only on which components and rates you are awarded, never on the condition: there is no separate ADHD rate.

Is PIP means tested or taxed?

No and no. PIP is tax free, and your income, savings and partner’s earnings make no difference. It is paid on top of most other benefits and you can receive it while working full time.

Does PIP unlock anything else?

Often, yes. Depending on your circumstances, a PIP award can add premiums or elements to means-tested benefits, and someone who cares for you for 35 or more hours a week may be able to claim Carer’s Allowance (£86.45 a week in 2026/27) if you get the daily living component. The enhanced mobility rate can give access to the Motability scheme. Check your own situation with a benefits calculator or adviser.

When do PIP rates change?

Rates are reviewed every April in the annual uprating. The figures on this page are the 2026/27 rates published by the DWP, checked 19 July 2026. We update this page from the DWP rates publication each April.

Will a PIP award be backdated?

PIP is paid from the date the DWP receives your claim, not from when your difficulties began, and not from when you were diagnosed. That is a practical reason not to delay starting a claim while you wait for other things like an assessment date.
